The 2008 Community Share Fair was a huge success. Over 500 Clark County residents attended and dropped off over 20,000 pounds of reusable and recyclable items!
Since 2005, Community Share Fairs have been held each year at Clark Public Utilities. The Community Share Fair offers a way for Clark County residents to clean out their closets, donate to a variety of charities and receive a tax deductible receipt. County residents throw away an estimated 5,000 tons (or 10 million pounds) of reusable products per year including clothing, toys, utensils and dishes, pictures, books, and furniture.
In 2008, a select group of charities (see Participating Non-Profits below) collected food (canned or non-perishable), baby supplies, bedding, bath and linens, books, cell phones, clothes, eyeglasses, computers, furniture, personal items (diapers, toiletry items, etc.), sports equipment, supplies for schools, art and craft projects, tools and toys. Electronic waste, athletic shoes and block foam were also collected.
For more information about the Community Share Fair, contact Clark County Solid Waste and Recycling at (360) 397-6118, ext. 4352. Because community needs are not limited to just one day-a-year, please also visit Recycling A-Z. Recycling A-Z provides a list of reuse, recycling and safe disposal options which are provided by non-profit organizations, government agencies, businesses and other regional agencies. This list does not include all the nonprofits serving Clark County; please contact the Nonprofit Network for more information about Clark County nonprofits.
